Our Historic Restoration of the Heather Property
After an introduction through Match.com, John Mincarelli and Cheryl Bingham became good friends working on the restoration of a building that John had purchased years earlier. Working side by side, their relationship blossomed into a love for each other. Their deep respect for the beliefs and values each of them shared, became the foundation for the restoration of this historical property.
Their vision of turning the Heather Sisters home “Chez Nous” into a wedding venue for others to enjoy, became their ultimate goal. Luckily, John is an expert with a hammer and Cheryl loves decorating, so the two have truly restored the Mansion to its original glory and more.
Their ambitious cellar-to-rafter restoration of this historic property in Searsburg, VT, has been in so many ways, a true labor of love. Sharing the love is the reason Chez Nous is now open for others to rent and enjoy, as well.
Every element of the venue has been designed to make the guests at special events, weddings, celebrations, family vacations, or corporate retreats feel utterly at home. “Chez Nous has rooms large enough for everyone to be together, and smaller private spaces where two or three people can relax and have a quiet conversation,” says John. “It is a mansion, and yet it always feels like a family home.”
The Mansion
Chez Nous is located just 3 miles from downtown Wilmington, Vermont, just minutes from Mount Snow, fabulous shops and great restaurants. Vermont’s natural beauty surrounds the property with the “Heather Brook”, walking paths into the woods and beautiful star lit skies at night.
Rehearsal dinners are ideal on the large wrap around, covered porch of the mansion with seating for up to 40 people. Choose from the mansion’s large kitchen/dining room area or the conservatory with outdoor patio for hosting your Sunday Brunch. You will have use of the entire property for the weekend.
The mansion has 6 spacious and beautifully decorated bedrooms and 5 full bathrooms. The “Heather Suite” is ideal for the bride and her attendants to prepare for the wedding. Boasting an ornate antique victorian fireplace, a custom Italian designed iron canopy bed, big windows and lots of natural lighting and a spa-like bathroom.
Chez Nous Bedrooms
In keeping with the Scottish ancestry of Mary and Celia Heather, we have named each of the bedrooms with a reference to Scotland. Each bedroom has its own thermostat control for heat.
“Heather Suite”
The Heather Suite is the largest of the bedrooms with an antique victorian mantel and gas fireplace, sitting area and a king sized bed. The bed is iron scroll work, custom, Italian designed four poster with sheer drapery. The Suite has a large spa like bathroom with rain shower and jacuzzi tub, aromatherapy, chromotherapy, hydrotherapy and air jets.
“Redding”
The Redding bedroom is a large room, beautifully decorated with a king sized four poster pineapple bed, seating area and private bathroom with a walk-in shower.
“Glenview”
The Glenview bedroom has a great view of the barn and back lawn. A gorgeous queen sized, four poster, walnut canopy, bed. This bedroom shares a bathroom with the “Park Gate” bedroom.
“Park Gate”
The Park Gate bedroom is a quiet and ever so comfortable room facing the back lawn. With a queen sized bed and wonderful views of the barn and patio area. This bedroom shares a bathroom with the “Glenview” bedroom.
“Kings Cross”
The Kings Cross bedroom is a large room with large windows and lots of natural light. Beautifully decorated, with a luxurious English style four poster queen sized bed. The Kings Cross bedroom has its own private bathroom, beautifully tiled with a jacuzzi tub and shower.
“Fair Isle”
The Fair Isle bedroom is light and bright with large windows and an ornate king sized bed. Such a cozy room, inviting you to relax and read a book or sneak a quick nap. Fair Isle’s private bathroom has a beautifully tiled, walk-in shower.
The Barn
Our barn is able to accommodate up to 250 people and has a large attached covered porch, chandelier lighting and a balcony for the perfect photo op!
The Groom and Groomsmen can get ready or just hang out and play foosball in the comfortable, private loft room above the barn.
