At Chez Nous in Searsburg, you are not sharing the weekend with another wedding down the hall.
For over a decade, we have been the Vermont wedding venue couples choose when they want the whole estate to themselves, from the rehearsal dinner on Friday to the farewell brunch on Sunday, with the kind of personal care that comes from being hosted by the owners and not handed off to a sales team.
Owned by John and Cheryl, who restored the mansion from cellar to rafters and built the barn behind it, this is the rare private estate wedding venue in southern Vermont where every wedding is treated like the only one that matters, because for that weekend, it is.
Welcome
Welcome to Chez Nous
Welcome to Chez Nous, a Vermont wedding venue near Mount Snow, where Vermont's natural beauty and timeless elegance come together to create the perfect destination wedding. Located just minutes from Mount Snow and Wilmington, our meticulously restored mansion and barn provide a one-of-a-kind setting for couples who dream of a truly authentic Vermont celebration.
From panoramic mountain views and charming countryside details to cozy indoor spaces infused with historic charm, your unforgettable wedding weekend awaits at Chez Nous. Today, after researching the colorful history of Chez Nous and an ambitious cellar-to-rafter restoration, the mansion stands proudly with a 3,000 sq. ft. barn erected behind it for many celebrations to come.
The Heather Sisters, 1890s
“Mary and Celia Heather purchased a hardworking dairy farm and built a country cottage to call their own — they named it Chez Nous.”
After many owners throughout the twentieth century left the property to deterioration, the Mincarellis undertook a cellar-to-rafter restoration — returning the mansion, and the land around it, to the couples who now call it their own for a weekend.
Real History
A Vermont Wedding Estate With Real History
Chez Nous is a Vermont wedding venue set on private grounds in Searsburg, three miles from downtown Wilmington. The mansion began in the 1890s, when two sisters bought a working dairy farm here and built a country cottage they named Chez Nous.
After many years and many hands, the property had fallen into deterioration. John and Cheryl researched its history, restored the mansion from cellar to rafters, and built a three thousand square foot barn behind it for weddings and events. What stands today is the home those sisters first imagined, gently brought into a new century.
We host a limited number of weddings each year, on purpose. Every couple gets the whole property for the weekend, real attention from the owners, and a setting that has quietly become one of the best wedding venues in Vermont for couples who care about how the day actually feels.
Reserved For One Couple At A Time
A Vermont Wedding Estate Reserved Just for You
Most wedding venues in Vermont run two or three events on the same weekend. We do not. When you book Chez Nous, the mansion, the barn, the loft, and the grounds are reserved for one couple, from Friday afternoon through Sunday brunch.
That is why our couples and their guests come back years later still talking about the weekend rather than just the wedding day. There is no shared parking lot, no second bride down the corridor, and no clock counting down to the next event. The pace is yours to set.
For wedding receptions in Vermont that sit a little outside the ordinary, that is what makes the difference.

Why Choose Chez Nous
Why Couples Choose Chez Nous
We are an easy drive from three major cities, and we are very different from a banquet hall. Couples come to us from across New England and beyond because Chez Nous offers what most southern Vermont wedding venues simply cannot: the whole property, all weekend, hosted personally by the owners.
The Whole Estate
One wedding at a time, every weekend. The mansion, the barn, and the grounds are entirely yours from Friday through Sunday.
Owner Hosted
John and Cheryl live this. You are not handed off to a coordinator who is juggling three other weddings. You get the people who built the place.
Weddings in Every Season
Fully insulated and heated, so weddings here happen in every season, including some of the most beautiful winter weddings in southern Vermont you will ever see.
Onsite Lodging
Six bedrooms and five baths in the mansion mean your wedding party and closest family sleep where the celebration is, not across a parking lot at a hotel.
Easy Drive In
About an hour and a half from Albany, two and a half hours from Boston, and under four hours from New York City. Close enough to drive, far enough to feel like a real escape.
